First-hand Oregon Bigfoot #188

Near Reedsport? Young camper frightened by large hand gathering berries

June 1978 late afternoon Douglas County, Oregon 1 witness

Account

While camping with relatives in a wooded area in July 1978, the 7-year-old witness was playing outside a camper in the late afternoon while others napped or were away. After hearing brush rustle and seeing a sapling bend, she approached a berry thicket and saw a large hairy hand reach out to grab berries from about 8 to 10 feet away. She ran back to camp frightened without seeing the rest of the creature, and later concluded it was Bigfoot after relatives suggested a bear.
