Howl near Decorah, Iowa
Account
The witness's friend was canoeing with companions near Lower Dam on the Upper Iowa River and fell behind as darkness approached. They heard a loud howl the friend later matched to the Ohio howl coming from the hillside. The source of the sound came down and traveled alongside the canoe for about a quarter mile. The friend never saw the source.
