Wildcat Mountain Road Strange whistle heard, local dogs disturbed
Account
The witness was positioned off a mountain road to monitor an elk herd that regularly fed in the area. A loud, high-pitched whistle lasting about 20 seconds was heard coming from the next canyon. The witness, familiar with wildlife sounds, did not recognize it as elk or cougar. Dogs at nearby homes barked for about five minutes after the whistle.
