Retired police officer recalls he and a friend being intimidated from continuing their hike, near Bonita

Two companions were hiking a faint trail in late afternoon to scout a fishing spot for the next morning. From a short distance ahead they heard an extremely loud, high-pitched scream that continued without pause for minutes. As they retreated, trees were heard and seen breaking and falling along a nearby ridge as the unseen source moved parallel to them. They never saw the source and left the area without returning.

About a dozen green poplar trees seen falling and broken while vertical along a ridge
Measurements: 20' - 30' tall and 4" - 6" in diameter, over about 100 yards
An investigator spoke with both witnesses by phone and played vocalization files that both identified as matching.
